My Third Year Uni Classes… what I like and what I don’t.
Some things I want to track:
- Random Information / Notes (org-mode)
- Class Notes
- Job Applications and information (excel)
- Courses and Deadlines (calendar / org)
My Classes for the year:
Code | Description | Interest (?/5) |
---|---|---|
CPS510 | Database Systems (Oracle) | 4 |
CPS721 | Artificial Intelligence (Prolog) | 3 |
CPS511 | Computer Graphics (OpenGL) | 4 |
CPS633 | Computer Security | 2 |
CCHY583 | Alternative Energies | 3 |
As you can see, none of my courses are super duper interesting, but they are crucial for a formal education in the topics. I just wish the AI course was more modern, as Prolog is not exactly a new programming language or technology used nowadays…
Hopefully I’ll be able to write about my time spent on Database Systems, as that has a group fullstack project, as well as the Computer Graphics side, because a formal approach to OpenGL has been something to look forward to since I started my first year.
One may ask:
“Daniel, why not do this on your own time?”
I’ve been working on my own little projects, doing some volunteer work, and this past summer had an internship/co-op. I also have just gotten swamped with labs, as the following courses have mandatory weekly labs (reports and assignments):
- 510
- 721
- 633
While the other courses have higher weighted midterms/finals:
I chose Alternative Energies as an Upper Liberal course so that I could spend a bit more time on energy sources, particularly solar power since I find it interesting and realistically applicable to consumers. However, that course has it’s own essay/assignment, so I’ll have to do that by ~mid October.
And finally, Computer Graphics. Standard midterm/final combo, should be fairly interesting.
That’s all on my classes, so hopefully I can stay on track with those and my job applications.
